20 000 Crimes Solved - Thanks for calling Crime Stoppers
South Australia Police are saying a big thank you to the community for their part in the success of Crime Stoppers.
Since its inception in 1996, members of the public have provided information that has been responsible for 20,344 charges being laid against 13,679 offenders in connection with a range of offence categories.
"With around 1800 telephone calls and 140 online reports made each month to the program, clearly the community is right behind helping police and we thank everyone for their contribution to community safety," said Assistant Police Commissioner (Crime Service) Grant Stevens.
To acknowledge the milestone of 20,000 offences charged and encourage further community participation, all stations will receive Crime Stoppers posters to be prominently displayed in public areas.
"We should be proud of the program's success, and continue to raise community awareness of Crime Stoppers by promoting its achievements and many benefits," Assistant Commissioner Stevens said.
